FLOOD RECOVERY RELIEF ACT - The State Senate gave final legislative approval to a bill that would provide $90 million in aid to homeowners, businesses and local communities impacted by the record spring flooding along Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and other swollen waterways. The bill (S.6783) creates the “Great Lakes Flood Recovery and Mitigation Relief Act” and would provide grants up to $100,000 for homes and businesses impacted by damaging floodwaters. The Governor has signed this law and it is effective as of July 10, 2017. The law gives communities the ability to opt into a program to provide tax relief for properties along the waterfront that have been affected by flooding. It provides a percentage reduction based upon the amount of damage and provides a methodology for the homeowner to prove this damage. It does not provide aid or reimbursement to those municipalities that opt in and will see a loss of revenue due to the lower Taxable Assessed Value. The Board will discuss whether to opt into the program.
FALL BALL FIELD USE REQUEST - The Town board has received a request to use one of the town baseball/softball fields for fall girls softball.
SUMMER RECREATION REQUEST - The Town Summer Recreation program has been seeing 50-60 children show up for activities. The Summer Recreation Director is requesting the Town hire an additional part time employee to assist with the large numbers. The additional cost will be $300 to finish the season.
PUBLIC/PRIVATE LAND ACQUISITION PROPOSAL - The Town Board has received a proposal from adjacent landowners of the Magee property regarding a joint acquisition of the property with the Town. The Board will discuss this proposal.
OFFICE FLOOR RENOVATIONS - The Board will discuss possible renovations to the office floors of the Assessors.
