John C. Londraville  American  Legion Post 832 representing the Town of Lyme and Town of Cape Vincent, in an effort to reach out to Town of Lyme and Cape Vincent Veterans and their families, recently purchased tee shirts and hats for the Cape Vincent and Lyme youth baseball programs.   Also, once again, the Post 832 American Legion Color Guard and Legion members will salute our deceased Lyme Veterans on Memorial Day with a twenty-one guns salute at the old Cedar Grove Cemetery on Washington at 8:45 am and then march to the Copley House for the annual Memorial Day ceremony at 9 am.  All Town of Lyme Veterans and active-duty service men and women are encouraged to join the Legion members at the cemetery or for the march down Washington Street.  In addition to these services, the John C. Londraville American Legion Post 832 offers Veteran Funeral Details, Lyme Student Scholarships, community grants, community dinners and sponsors Boys State attendees.  

American Legion Boys State is week-long program that teaches high school juniors about government and citizenship. The John C. Public Hearing Proposed Local Law:  REPEAL & REPLACE Section 750 – Recreational Vehicles of the Town’s Code

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Local Law has been introduced before the Town Board of the Town of Lyme to REPEAL & REPLACE Section 750 – Recreational Vehicles of the Town’s Code in the Town of Lyme, Jefferson County, New York. 

        PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing in connection with the REPEAL & REPLACE Section 750 – Recreational Vehicles of the Town’s Code will be held at the Town Offices, 12175 NYS Route 12E, Chaumont, New York on September 13, 2023 at 6:15 p.m. An opportunity to be heard in regard thereto will then and there be given to all persons interested in this proposed legislation.

Lyme Community Days POSTPONED

NOTICE

As most of the community is aware, an incident occurred yesterday afternoon at the solar site on County Route 179. Mechanical equipment which supports the operation of the solar project malfunctioned, causing a fire. First responders have been on scene from the start of the event, overnight, and into today to mitigate the incident. 

In consultation with the Village of Chaumont mayor, Town of Lyme supervisor, and representatives from County Fire and Emergency Management, State Office of Emergency Management, State Fire, NYS DEC, and support from various state agencies, the Chaumont Three Mile Bay Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to postpone the Lyme Community Days scheduled July 28-30 until further notice.

Representatives have indicated that there are no immediate threats to health and safety as a result of this incident. The Chaumont and Three Mile Bay Fire Departments continue to monitor the situation including the continuous cooling of involved components and air monitoring for potential toxic byproducts.

Along with air monitoring, which has recorded 0 toxic byproducts (to Depauville, along Morris Tract Road, and within 1 mile of village lines into the Town of Brownville), there is also no present indication of any groundwater contamination or runoff contamination imposing health risks.First responders and state agency representatives will continue on scene until emergency is mitigated. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION RE:  Proposed Water District No. 6 (Point Salubrious)

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Special Election will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 regarding proposed Water District No. 6 (Point Salubrious). The election shall be held at the Town Offices located at 12175 NYS Route 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622. The polls shall open at 12:00 pm and shall remain open for voting until 8:00 pm. The proposition to be voted on will be as follows: “Shall Water District No. 6 (Point Salubrious) be formed?” Please note that voters must own property within the proposed Water District and meet eligibility requirements in order to vote in the Special Election.The Water District will include 329 parcels with a maximum cost of $17,480,000 for the Public Improvements. No individual costs for hook-ups during construction of the project will occur and the estimated cost to a typical property annually (EDU) is anticipated to be $2,048.00.
